For more than 40 years, the Cranbrook Firefighters Association has hosted this annual Fishing Clinic, giving local youth the opportunity to enjoy fishing, the outdoors and quality time with family and friends.

🎉 About the Event

The Cranbrook Firefighters Fishing Clinic is a long-standing RockiesFest tradition that encourages family involvement, outdoor recreation and a love of fishing.

Children 15 and under are invited to spend the morning fishing at beautiful Idlewild Lake while learning about fishing, sportsmanship and enjoying the outdoors with their families.

The Cranbrook Firefighters Association, made up of career, retired and volunteer firefighters, works hard each year to organize this special community event and provide local youth with the opportunity to experience the recreational opportunities our East Kootenay region has to offer.

• Free Fishing Clinic: No cost and no pre-registration required.
• Youth Fishing: Open to all children 15 and under.
• Free Food & Refreshments: Enjoy burgers, hot dogs and refreshments throughout the event.
• Biggest Fish Prize: The child who catches the biggest fish can win a chartered fishing trip!
• Many More Prizes: There will be plenty of other prizes to be won.
• Family Fun: Parents and grandparents are encouraged to participate and pass along their fishing knowledge and love of the outdoors.
• A RockiesFest Tradition: Join an event that has been bringing families together for more than four decades.

The Fishing Clinic is about much more than catching fish. It provides an opportunity for families to spend time together, learn from one another and enjoy the outdoors in a fun and welcoming environment.

Over the years, the event has attracted more than 300 participants, becoming a much-loved tradition for Cranbrook’s youth and families.

The organizers hope that for some children, their experience at the Fishing Clinic will be the beginning of a lifelong passion for fishing and an appreciation for the outdoors.
